UPDATE TIME!

So, after the madness that was the month of July, and a much needed break from all things audio and St. John's for a couple of weeks, I'm happy to be back doing what I love to do.

As I'm typing this, I'm proofing the finished production master for the very-soon-to-be-released Masterless Men album. Sweet Jeebus, what a fine job we did!! Best MM album I've ever been a part of - and that's significant in my eyes. The previous offering, The Bramble and The Rose from a couple of years is considered the lads' best. I think we've crushed it convincingly.... But, I may be a little biased. I dunno.

Either way, expect this to be hitting store shelves shortly. I can't wait to start hearing it on the local airwaves.

This evening also has me returning to the studio to continue recording with the At Ship's End crowd. REALLY looking forward to getting back to this raucously fun group. We even have a special guest vocalist tonight: Mr. Matt Hornell! After hearing so many good things about him, I can't wait to work with him.

Onward!!

Cheers!

Holy crap, this thing hasn't biodegraded?

Impressive... I figured the half-life on these blog things was 6 months without an update. Good thing I'm wrong about certain aspects of this innerweb dealie.

So, a few things to update:

Tonight is the last night of recording on the new Masterless Men project. We've been at it since mid-April, and we're all overjoyed to be hitting the mixing stage. There were a few non-foreseeable delays - mostly illness. All hands are on the mend, and we're forging ahead.

Once that's done, I'm back to working with a group of talented musicians called "At Ship's End". These folks are NL's version of Dropkick or Flogging Molly. The comparison is apt and well deserved. Oodles of energy and talent. Looking forward to getting back at this one. Mucho fun to rock out at warp 9.

FINALLY been given the green light to try and resurrect the old HDR24/96 recorder that was damaged during Hurricane Igor (that dickbag owes me microphones and other things) along with 95% of the GBStudio. If I can revive it, I'll be able to snag very important files needed to finish Adam McG's loooooooong overdue project. I swear, this thing is my White Whale...

At MUN, we're a couple of days away from hosting a massive international conference and concert series. If you Google "ICTM 2011", you'll find out all about it. To find out about the concert series, check out www.soundshift.ca.

S'all for now. Cheers!

Um... Happy Belated New Year

Wow... talk about your dereliction of duty..!

Then again, aside for plugging away at Adam's mixes (a painfully slow process I can blame mostly on conflicting schedules), there hasn't been a whole pile to talk about.

It was nice to not have much of any session work in December. It meant I could enjoy my birthday, and not be 99% stressed out about getting ready for Xmas in time. The Holiday break was a nice, low-key affair. Just what I wanted.

I'm already getting calls for projects throughout 2010. Can't talk about any of them, as none are 100% confirmed. Lots to keep me occupied, that's for damn sure. Lots of interesting music to be made, I'm sure.

Ah well.... I'm going to go lament the appalling lack of snow on the ground.

Cheers!

October 19th Update

John's Christmas CD is now in stores - Go. Get it.

Karla Pilgrim's up for a handful of MusicNL awards. Kickass! She's also trying to get on the East Coast Countdown radio show with her single "Home" Feel free to go to the website and nominate her. Go. Do it.

Lullabies For Bloodshot Eyes: still one or two technical deallies to iron out before firing it off to mastering. Trying to take care of that as quickly as possible.

Adam McGrath: Steady as she goes, Cap'n! Still mixing, but progress is good.

ENNIS - The ladies have been making sneak peeks of the upcoming available for preview on their facebook page. Diggin' how the mixing turned out... most likely as a result of me having not been near the mixing process -HAH! Co. Listen to it.

Cheers!

Holy CRAP-eth!!!

I just realized that I haven't posted anything here in almost 2 months! To be fair, I was away on a much needed vacation for a couple of weeks. And I've been trying to get some home renovations taken care of. But no one really cares about any of my domestic pursuits now, do they.

Projects:

Ennis!! Yes. Ennis! It was nice to reunite with my dear friends to help them finish off their next studio effort. Recorded at the GBStudio! It's been 10 freakin' years since I recorded the Ladies Ennis. Damn, it was hellishly fun. Not sure when it'll be out, but I'm guessing fans should be able to get their copy on the upcoming tour.

Adam McGrath: Full-mother-f%$#ing steam ahead! Mixing is going very well. This project should finally be in the can by the end of October. Diggin' it! Loves me some unrepentant RAWK!

And I'm happy to report that there's been a shift in direction of the "Lullabies For Bloodshot Eyes" after encountering some minor logistical issues. Re-tracked a vocal with McCann a week and a half ago and re-jigged the mix of that tune. Now, all is right avec le monde. I'm hoping to get it off for mastering before week's end.

Coming up:

I'm concocting something of my own design. Something I've been toying with for about 2 years, now. Needs to be unleashed soon. It's no longer content to dwell within its cage anymore.....

MWAAHHAHAHAHAAAA!!!

Cheers!

I'm no longer Dreaming of a White Christmas...

... and it feels good!

JC's Christmas CD has been shipped off for mastering... hopefully early this morning. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out. Sounds like a million bucks> Wouldn't sign off on it if it didn't... :p

Now... onward!

Cheers!
